7.0/10

During my stay at Gideon Putnam, I experienced a mix of charm and disappointment. The historic ambiance of the hotel is impressive, but some aspects, like room odors and restaurant policies, left much to be desired. The staff were friendly and responsive, which helped balance some of the negatives.

Rooms
5.0
My room was spacious but had an unpleasant odor, which made my stay less enjoyable. I felt the rooms could use some modernization and better furnishings.

The staff were generally attentive and polite, particularly the front desk team. However, I had a frustrating experience at the restaurant, where service felt rushed and unwelcoming.

I loved the location inside Saratoga Spa State Park. It’s perfect for outdoor activities and easy access to nearby attractions, like the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Dining
5.0
While I had high expectations for the restaurant, the limited menu on concert nights and some unappetizing dishes were disappointing.
Facilities

The hotel features lovely grounds and a charming exterior, but I was disappointed that the pools were closed during my visit.

6.8/10

I had a lovely stay at the Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa, enjoying the beautiful grounds and the historic charm of the hotel. However, I faced some issues with my room—like a missing hairdryer and a refrigerator that stopped working. The staff were friendly and tried to help with my concerns, and the spa services were fantastic, though the mineral baths felt overpriced. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but some improvements are needed.

Rooms
6.0
My room was clean and comfortable, but it had some issues that detracted from my stay. The dresser was scratched, and the TV didn't work upon arrival. I had to troubleshoot a bit. Also, the bathroom was outdated and needed attention; the sink area looked lumpy and unkempt.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and attentive, going out of their way to assist me when I needed extra towels. They really seemed to want to provide a good experience, though I did notice some gaps in service during peak times.
Location
9.0
The location of the hotel was fantastic, near the state park and close to SPAC, making it perfect for relaxing walks and enjoying local events. I loved strolling around the beautifully maintained grounds.
Dining
7.0
I had a great breakfast on the patio, and the food was delicious. However, I was disappointed that their brunch was cancelled during my stay, which I was looking forward to.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel offers great wellness amenities like the spa and mineral springs, although the fees for these have increased, which felt excessive. The free shuttle service was a nice perk that made getting around easy.

5.0/10

My stay at the Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa was a mix of charm and disappointment. The historic ambiance of the lobby is truly enchanting, but the quality of the rooms didn't quite match the 5-star feel I expected. While the staff was friendly and helpful, the limited dining options and poor condition of the room made for an underwhelming experience. 🌟

Rooms
5.0
The room I stayed in had several issues including a loud AC, uncomfortable bed, and a musty smell that made it hard to feel relaxed. It felt outdated and in need of upgrades.
Service
6.0
The staff were responsive and accommodating, but my concerns were addressed with indifference upon checkout. They did try to make amends with a complimentary drink after their check-in error.
Location
8.0
The location is convenient, being near the state park and downtown Saratoga Springs, which I loved. It’s perfect for those looking to explore the area or catch events at SPAC.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast was quite limited, with the main offerings being scrambled eggs and bacon. I was disappointed that the restaurant was closed, as that was not communicated well beforehand.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities including the spa and shuttle service added convenience, but pools were closed during my visit, which was a letdown. They had potential but need better upkeep.

I had a lovely stay at the Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa, with its charming historic architecture and beautiful grounds in Saratoga Spa State Park. The staff at the door were attentive and kind, really enhancing my experience. However, I found the front desk service a bit standoffish and the bathroom needed maintenance. Despite these hiccups, I would definitely return.

Rooms
7.0
My room was roomy and comfortable, providing plenty of natural light. I appreciated the historical charm, but there were some maintenance issues like a leak I reported.
Service
6.0
The door staff were super friendly and helpful, providing great information about the area. However, the front desk staff felt a bit unwelcoming.
Location

The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Saratoga Spa State Park, making it a great base for exploring the area. It's also just a short walk to SPAC, which was a huge plus for me.
Dining
6.0
I enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the hotel's restaurant, though I experienced some dissatisfaction during a dinner visit where the meal quality fell short. Still, the morning offerings were quite good.
Facilities
7.0
While I had hoped for a pool on-site, I learned it was a short walk to the State Park. The fitness and spa facilities looked nice, but I didn't utilize them this time.

7.4/10

I had mixed feelings about my stay at the Gideon Putnam Resort. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to SPAC, and the historic charm of the hotel is appealing. However, I found some aspects lacking, particularly the limited restaurant hours and the need for upgrades in the room amenities. Overall, the friendly staff and spa services made my stay enjoyable, but there were a few disappointments.

Rooms
6.0
My room, while comfortable with great bedding, showed signs of wear, such as a scratched dresser and a malfunctioning refrigerator. The bathroom renovations were a mixed bag, with some updates clashing with older features.
Service
7.0
The service from the staff was friendly and attentive, particularly the shuttle drivers who provided helpful local information. However, I experienced issues with housekeeping as my room wasn’t cleaned one day during my stay.
Location
8.0
The location is one of the hotel's biggest advantages, as it’s conveniently close to SPAC and offers access to lovely trails and the scenic park setting. This contributed greatly to my overall experience.
Dining
5.0
While the on-site dining options were limited and the restaurant was closed upon my departure, the buffet breakfast I enjoyed was quite good. I did wish for more consistent dining availability during my visit.
Facilities
6.0
The amenities, like the spa services and free shuttle service, were highlights of my stay. However, I felt the amenities fee was a bit excessive, given the limited offerings, especially after Labor Day.
